TRANSCRIPT VERLAG
Many technologies and practices that shape the frequently mentioned web 2.1 today date back to the 1990s – and so do the ideas of social media, user-generated content, or participatory platforms. Thus, from a media-technology view, a lot of the ideas for the future of the internet from that period have been implemented, albeit without fulfilling the envisioned societal utopias. Remembering the history of an alternative web discourse, Clemens Apprich develops an understanding of reflexion and action, which is necessary for thinking beyond our current concept of socio-technical linking and for intervening in current debates about the internet.
