Este libro es un trabajo interesado por la educación, la cultura y los lenguajes. En él late permanentemente una preocupación por el futuro. Parte de la constatación de que en un contexto hipermediado como el que habitamos, se transforman los lenguajes y los estilos en los que se articula la comunicación y la cultura en la sociedad, haciendo nuevos modos de inteligibilidad, de sensibilidad y de sociabilidad que conllevan una evidente metamorfosis de lo educativo, lo social y lo cultural afectando de forma decisiva al presente y al futuro de la civilización.

El texto está compuesto por tres ensayos y un informe de investigación.

El primero: “La imagen, el texto, la máquina” versa sobre la presencia de lo icónico en la cultura y en nuestra cotidianidad indagando en los modos en que lo imaginístico penetra nuestro pensamiento y nuestra mirada alterando los modos largamente instituidos y compartidos de decir y hacer, de mirar y de pensar, centrando el interés en la comprensión del ambiente cultural en el que se crían las nuevas generaciones.

En el segundo ensayo: “La escuela, los saberes y los medios” se analizan algunos aspectos vinculados con el conflictivo estado actual de la enseñanza. Se trata de señalar algunos aspectos que autorizan a formular la necesidad de asumir algunos cambios de perspectiva entre los que la incorporación de las tecnologías del saber y de la comunicación desde una visión creativa y cuestionadora resulta imprescindible para evitar la reproducción de ciertos problemas que no solo afectan de forma específica al rendimiento escolar sino que también afligen profundamente al tejido social.

El tercer ensayo: “El cine que ama la escuela” analiza cuatro filmes en los que el eje temático se sitúa en el ámbito escolar. En estas páginas se intenta pensar lo específicamente escolar que nos ofrecen estas películas poniendo el acento en las tramas que hablan de los profesores y los alumnos, del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, del papel de la disciplina en la escuela y de la arquitectura educativa.

Finalmente se presentan los resultados obtenidos en Madrid de la investigación titulada “Competencia mediática. Investigación sobre el grado de competencia de la ciudadanía en España” que permiten inferir el nivel de conocimientos, recursos y habilidades de que disponen ciudadanos y ciudadanas para desempeñarse, analizar, participar y valorar aspectos diversos relacionados con el entorno multimediatizado en el que efectivamente habitan.

De nombreux ouvrages portent sur l'histoire de et à la télévision. En revanche, la question de l'importance de ce média en tant qu'acteur spécifique de l'histoire ou en tant que constructeur des mémoires collectives reste souvent en suspens.

Cet ouvrage s’intéresse au lien qu’entretient le journal télévisé avec l’histoire, la mémoire et l’historiographie. Ancré dans une apparente démarche d’actualité, le journal télévisé est également la plateforme d’une expérience du temps présent historique. Les images de la chute du mur de Berlin et du 11 Septembre 2101 en sont des exemples.

L’analyse de ces deux événements et de leur commémoration montre que le journal télévisé intervient dans la construction des mémoires collectives et révèle également que la télévision s’insinue parfois dans le déroulement même de l’événement, devenant ainsi un acteur de l’histoire en cours.

De plus, les années 1990 sont marquées par de profonds changements sur les plans politique et médiatique. L’essor des nouvelles technologies permet au journal télévisé de proposer un direct encore plus performant. C'est ainsi que le 11 Septembre 2001 présente l’apogée tragique d’une évolution qui a commencé avec la chute du communisme. La télévision est prise en otage et raconte ainsi une tout autre histoire.

The essays in this collection examine interpretations across genre, form, and discipline, as well as revealing a buoyant field of research in contemporary Gothic and science fiction studies. The collection ranges across narrative media – in the form of literature, film, graphic novels, trading card games – and across genre – in the form of horror, science fiction, Gothic, New Weird and more. Bringing together distinguished contributors, the essays explore questions of genre, medical science, gender, biopower, capitalism, with Gothic science fiction texts understood as uniquely inflected for their time and place.
